The Swiss food and beverage operator has partnered with kooky to offer a digital cup return plan across its 200 cafes and kiosks by 2024.

Swiss food service operator Valora has expanded its reusable coffee cup program at its Caffè Spettacolo, Brezelkönig, SuperGuud and k kiosk stores.

Using the kooky platform, customers will be able to pay a deposit for a reusable cup along with a hot beverage. The cups can then be returned at designated collection points near the stores, with a deposit electronically credited upon return via bank transfer or donation to the Animal Fund. Kooky then collects and empties the boxes daily before shipping the cups and lids to a dishwasher logistics company, where they are cleaned, packaged, and returned to stores in sealed containers.

Customers can now purchase kooky cups from 19 Brezelkönig, Caffè Spettacolo and SuperGuud sales outlets. The stores of the three food service brands will offer the smart digital cup system at 30 SBB stations and 20 other locations by 2023.

By the end of 2024, about 150k kiosks, Press & Books and stores will also participate in the initiative.
