How to Export and Import Coffee to Poland? – Shipping Coffee For Export From Vietnam To Poland. Vietnam and the EU signed the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) on June 30, 2019, and officially took effect on August 1, 2020; according to this agreement, EU countries, including Poland, offer necessary tariff preferences for Coffee imported from Vietnam.

In the first nine months of 2020, Poland increased coffee imports from Vietnam with an increase of 30.6% in volume and 27.1% in value over the same period in 2019, reaching 11.1 thousand tons, worth 11.1 thousand tons, worth $18.42 million.

In addition, for many years, the EU, including Poland, has maintained the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) mechanism for developing and underdeveloped countries, including Vietnam.

How to Export and Import Coffee to Poland?

From August 1, 2020, to July 31, 2022 (within two years from the effective date of EVFTA), enterprises are entitled to two preferential tariff regimes under EVFTA and GSP. They are allowed to choose which offer is more suitable. In case GSP is selected, the Coffee must meet GSP’s rules and procedures for certification of origin; In case of choosing tariff preferences under EVFTA, Coffee must meet EVFTA rules and guidelines for a certificate of origin. From August 1, 2022, the GSP preferential tariff regime will automatically end, and businesses will apply the preferential tariff regime under the EVFTA. However, EVFTA allows if the EVFTA tax is higher than the GSP tax, they will still be entitled to GSP tax. No matter which preferential tax rate is chosen, the Coffee must meet the EVFTA rules and procedures for origin certification.

Poland increases imports of Vietnamese coffee

The Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) cited statistics from the International Trade Center (ITC), saying that Poland’s coffee imports in 2015 – 2019 grew by an average of 6.5% per year. from 141,144 tons in 2015, to 181,086 tons in 2019. In the first nine months of 2020, Poland’s coffee imports reached 136.3 thousand tons, worth $448.71 million, up 2.7% in volume and 6.7% in value over the same period in 2019.

In the first nine months of 2020, Poland’s average import price of coffee reached $3,291/ton, up 3.9% over the same period in 2019. Meanwhile, the cost of Polish coffee imports increased from the markets of Germany, Brazil, Belgium, and the Czech Republic.

In the first nine months of 2019, Poland increased coffee imports from Vietnam with an increase of 30.6% in volume and 27.1% in value over the same period in 2019, reaching 11.1 thousand tons, worth 11.1 thousand tons, worth 18.42 million USD in the first nine months of 2020.

In the first nine months of 2020, Poland increased coffee imports from most markets but decreased imports from Germany and Uganda. Specifically, Poland’s coffee imports from Germany in the first nine months of 2020 reached 89.3 thousand tons, worth $254.5 million, down 1.7% in volume but up 3.2% in value. They were compared with the same period in 2019. Germany’s share of total Polish imports accounted for 65.53% in the first nine months of 2020, lower than 68.5% in the first nine months of 2019.

In contrast, Poland increased coffee imports from Vietnam with an increase of 30.6% in volume and 27.1% in value over the same period in 2019, reaching 11.1 thousand tons, worth 18.42 million USD in the first nine months of 2020. Vietnam’s coffee market share in Poland’s total imports accounted for 8.13% in the first nine months of 2020, higher than 6.4% in the first nine months of 2019.

At the port in the city area. In Ho Chi Minh City, R1 grade Robusta coffee decreased by 2.9% compared to December 31, 2020, to 33,500 VND/kg. The coffee trade in the domestic market was quiet due to weak demand and increased supply due to harvest time. The price is low, so people have not sold much.
