According to data, there are more than 125 known types of coffee in the world today. Only two species, Arabica and Robusta, have been commercially promoted. Arabica coffee – coffee varietals produced at high altitude, which contain less caffeine but have a fuller, more delicate, and distinctive flavour than Robusta – is only used in the Specialty Coffee sector because of its potential flavour. a large number of

Disease susceptibility: a person’s susceptibility to disease.

The types are known as Jackson, Kent, Coorg, and Mysore all come from the same region of India, maybe a descendant of the first Yemeni coffee beans brought to India by Baba Budan in 1670. According to recent DNA testing, Jackson is related to the Bourbon gene pool.

In the early 1900s, Mr Jackson, a coffee farmer in Mysore, India, discovered that the plants on his field were immune to coffee leaf rust (that resistance had been lost). ( the cultivar is thought to be rust-prone). In the 1920s, seedlings from these types were shipped to research stations in Kenya and Tanzania. The Jackson variety, now widespread in Rwanda, is descended from this original variety. (How Jackson got from Kenya to Rwanda is unclear; documents suggest it may have originated via a germ collection formed in the 1930s at Mulungu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or from Kenyan settlers in the 1940s.)

Maragogype

Exceptional

Productivity is low.

Disease susceptibility: a person’s susceptibility to disease.

Maragogype is a Typica natural mutant named after Maragogipe, Brazil, discovered the breed.

Maragogype coffee beans and leaves are recognized for their ‘giant’ size, low production, excellent quality fruit, and late maturation. In some markets, the quality of this grade is valued.

Mardeilles

high-quality

Productivity is high.

Resistance Marsellesa was developed by a hybrid between Sarchimor and Caturra, renowned for its excellent quality and leaf rust resistance (inherited from Sarchimor).

This coffee has firm acidity and is resistant to rain during harvest, whereas cultivars like actual and caturra can lose some cherries if it rains heavily.

New World

high-quality

Productivity is high.

Disease resistance is excellent.
A natural hybrid of Typica and Bourbon that was initially discovered in Brazil. Mundo Novo produces a high yield but takes longer to mature than other cultivars.

Obata

high-quality

Productivity is high.

Resistance to Disease:

Brazil developed it as a hybrid between Timor Hybrid and Villa Sarchi. Obata was introduced to Costa Rica by the local coffee institute, ICAFE, in 2014.

High-Quality Pacamana

Productivity is average.

Disease susceptibility: a person’s susceptibility to disease.

El Salvador produced a combination of Pacas and Maragogype in 1958.

The cultivar has traits of both mother plants: it’s a short-day, high-yielding plant, similar to pacas, and the fruit is as big as maragogype. The flavour profile of this cultivar is of reasonable quality.

Pacas Excellent quality

Productivity is average.

Disease susceptibility: a person’s susceptibility to disease.
A breed mutation that occurs naturally Bourbon

Pache is named after the Pacas family, who found the variety in El Salvador. Pacas is a resilient plant that thrives in various conditions and has a flavour profile comparable to Bourbon.

Apache

high-quality

Productivity is average.

Disease susceptibility: a person’s susceptibility to disease.

Pache is a Typica natural mutant identified on El Brito’s farms, Santa Cruz Naranjo, and Santa Rosa in Guatemala.

This type is resistant to various local diseases, although leaf rust and coffee berry are serious problems. This is a high-quality coffee that thrives in high-altitude environments.

Parainema

high-quality

Productivity is average.

Types of Coffee Beans And Their Characteristic Part 2

Disease resistance is defined as:

CAFE, Honduras’ National Coffee Research Center, developed another relative hybrid in the 1980s.

Like most association-bred varieties, the variety is resistant to pests and illnesses that endanger local crops. The Parainema cultivar, for example, is resistant to leaf rot and worms.
