Latte is espresso mixed with hot milk. The percentage of milk in the Latte will be double the espresso portion, plus a thin layer of milk foam on top.

The very name “latte” is also derived from the Italian word “caffè e latte,” which means “coffee and milk.”

A standard latte has an espresso of only 1/3 cup. Whole milk accounts for 2/3. The milk foam only covers the surface, used as a diverse latte art background.
